Abode Living featured in Estates Gazette on Permitted Development Rights

Abode Living was recently featured in Estates Gazette Magazine in a piece written by Director Richard Hughes entitled ‘It’s time to open our minds on Permitted Development Rights.’

In the piece, Richard argued that with more and more commercial buildings falling obsolete and a rising number of urgently needed affordable homes, PDR should be exercised as part of the solution to the housing crisis. He pointed to the following stats that helped to underpin the argument:"

  • 260,000 = the number of long-term empty residential units in England today

  • 170,000 = the number of empty business/commercial premises that are privately owned in England currently which comprise over 100m sq ft

  • 15 = the number of years that Abode has been delivering PDR for social and affordable housing

  • 10,000 = the number of tenants Abode Living has housed during this period
